Gingham is really big this spring, and that makes me so happy! While I rarely wear ‘dress pants’ to work, I make exceptions for fun printed pants, especially when they are from the affordable pixie line at Old Navy! I received these pants in the mail a couple days ago and drug my husband out of the house right after work before the sun went down to snap a few photos I was so excited lol!
While in my rushed state, I didn’t think through my top too much, so please disregard the poor match. I think the ‘type’ of top is perfect, but the slub knit of this shirt is much more suited either as a front tuck or with in a more relaxed environment (i.e. with shorts or jeans). I didn’t notice inside the house that the top is way too transparent for bright gingham printed pants (in my opinion anyway… and maybe it’s the photo editing also, I usually sharpen things and brighten pictures up with the sun setting).
Ehh, so anyway. The pants are great! The top is great! I don’t know if I would ever wear them together though ha! I’m wearing an 8P in the pants – I normally buy them in a regular size 6, but wanted a shorter look for spring with the petite sizing. Old Navy sizes sometimes fit me a little big (jeans I wear a 6P), but the 8P actually fit really well, especially if I’m going to tuck shirts in.
Nordstrom’s website recommended sizing down on the top (I’m wearing an XS). Honestly I think my regular size small would have worked also. It’s one of those tops that if it shrinks at all in the wash I feel like it would be too tight in the bust and hips. It’s a gorgeous top though! I love the square neck and mixed media material. If you want a less transparent color altogether, there are ten color options.
