Scallops & Stripes:

Hello friends! Well, I’m thankfully feeling much better after this weekend! I only worked 8 hours on Friday and had Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday off. It was much needed and truly refreshing. Other than taking the dogs for a walk and playing in our backyard, I didn’t actually leave the house this weekend. I did a major closet cleanout and posted on eBay things that no longer fit or no longer like, put fall clothes in the guest room closet, and brought out all the pretty spring things! I also took a few (indoor) blog photos and all in all – it was worth staying home!

First post of the week and I just had to share this pretty scallop linen skirt!  I buy these skirts season after season, in both linen and wool, and they are hands down my favorite skirt to wear. The stretchy waist is comfortable and makes it easy to tuck in sweaters and tops. They are machine washable (I’m getting annoyed with dry cleaning… trying to buy mostly machine washable these days!). I have an entire rainbow of these skirts in various prints and colors, so I was pretty excited when I saw the scallop detail for this season!  Just something new and different to add to the closet. I find these skirts run a little big in the waist, but they do shrink ever so slightly, so I buy my regular size.

**Sale Alert**

Are you a chino lover like myself? If I’m not wearing a skirt to work in the summer, you can guarantee I’m in a pair of chinos! They are hands down my favorite work pant because of how comfortable they are, especially for long days. I buy most of mine from LOFT and Old Navy and I just noticed the pair I’m wearing in the photo is on clearance for $17! My gray color is almost sold out, but there is a pretty olive color that I might scoop up (I already have 2 pairs of olive dress pants and one pair of green chinos…. what’s one more?).

Striped Tie-Knot Tee

So I’m pretty sure you can give me all the tie-knot tees, because that’s all I’ve purchased lately and I love this trend!  I mentioned awhile back I want to buy more classic pieces and less ‘weird trends’ but the tie-knots are a trend that can last forever!  I’m a tomboy at heart, so this is the perfect way to wear a t-shirt, but with a little detail and all the comfort. This tee is only $15 also! It comes in 3 colors including a pretty embroidered version which I would have purchased first had I not already had the BP embroidered tee. They are very similar. I paired this tee with my new favorite $23 mules and $13 earrings (still on sale!). I’ll link similar affordable options below for my denim and bag (mine are old) so that you can pretty much replicate this outfit for less than $100!

Twist-back tee

What you are looking at in the flatlay picture is actually the back of this tee! It’s super cute! All winter long the trend (and still going strong I might add) was either ties or knots in the front of a sweater or shirt. And just because the fashion wizards need to mix up the trends, now the knots are being put in the back (LOL). My phone kind of washed out the color a little in the stripes, but it’s a royal blue/white striped tee. Very nautical and very summer. It’s called a long sleeve, but really 3/4 length sleeves. It’s a shorter body length, but perfect for petites or also with high waisted jeans. I didn’t have a problem with the length (I’m 5’2″ for reference). The tee also comes in solid colors.

A New Day

So I had to make another Target run because there were just a few things I couldn’t get out of my head! One was this beautiful embellished floral cardigan — it’s so pretty in person!  I stopped at a Target a little farther way from my house last weekend and they didn’t have my size in stock, so I ran up to my local store by my house this morning (my excuse was I needed Starbucks 😎 ) because the Target app said they had the cardigan in stock in my size… Yep, liars. Lol. It just wasn’t meant to be I suppose. But of course who ever buys one thing while they are at Target? Ha. I also saw this cute pink cardigan and ($10) earrings in another color (I also have the yellow) that match perfectly and are still on sale – so they came home with me. Oy. I tell you what though, Target is just doing a great job lately. I also brought home this tie front tee ($15!) in the yellow striped color — it also comes in a pretty floral print, but I already have the BP floral tee which I wore last week and is extremely similar. Below are a list and pictures of my favorite items out right now from Target’s ‘A New Day’ brand.

Fashion Repeat

Remember these pretty scallop shorts from last summer? Well, they’re back! I love fashion repeats! Scallops are still hot and in style, so why not? My favorite part? This year they are also available in white!

Old Navy sweater, LOFT scallop chambray shorts, J.Crew espadrilles, Rebecca Minkoff handbag

Pearls & Chambray

Ya’ll know I love pearls (hence the name of the blog! 😂) and couldn’t resist this pretty pearl top (it also comes in white!). I love a light chambray color also. I just realized I have sold all of my button-down chambray tops out of my closet, so that is now on my wish list! The ones I sold were from J.Crew (it was very stiff) and from The Limited (too big), so I added this Caslon version to my list. Caslon tops come in petite which normally fit me better and usually all go on sale 30-40% off! Anyway I’m rambling off topic – back to the pearl top!

It’s a sleeveless top, so easily layered with a cardigan. I ordered my regular size which fit well and can easily be tucked into a pencil skirt or pair with white or pink denim this summer. I have so many other sleeveless tops on my wish list — all from Banana! I linked my favorites below. Can you tell it’s starting to feel like spring down here?! It’s been forever since I’ve really wanted to wear a skirt to work — I wore one today! It made me so happy — I’ll post my #ootd later today!

Wow, February 1st already?! Where has the time gone? I’ve noticed a couple of the bloggers I follow have used the new year to plan out their entire year – with both personal and blog year-end goals in mind – have you guys ever considered that? I just love planners, I think I buy like 3 per year and always find one I love even more (only to go back to my original one haha). Not to mention I have a pen and highlighter in every color. 😂 However, I usually don’t think near as far ahead as the end of the year – heck I’m just happy to make it through the week LOL! I do really like the idea of planning out the month ahead though – I have a few passions in life and all of them I strive to become better at — for me those would be 1) the blog 2) showing horses 3) running/fitness/diet. I really should look at long-term goals more often, however I’ve always been one of those “on the fly” type of people. Let me know what you guys do! I’d love to hear if you have a planner you love and if you plan out via week, month, and also the entire year!

Nothing too special about this outfit below, except this cute little ruffle sleeve tee. It’s $45, but wait for the sale (it will go on some sort of sale – likely tomorrow or the next day ha) and guarantee you can get it for at least 40% off. I do recommend purchasing your normal size. I sized down because it looked big in store, and since it’s a stretchy jersey like material, I didn’t like how tight it was around my stomach that I feed all the ice cream. 😂 I went back to styling these $25 fuzzy mules since the chill is back in the air – still in stock in all sizes!

I feel like I’ve worn a lot of pink lately and a lot of floral, but the bright colors are so cheery and have me dreaming of summer days! This top has a great mixture of a little yellow, a couple shades of pink, and various blue shades. I love shell tops like this because they are so easy to dress up or down. Wear it by itself in the summer and layered in the spring. These white mules are definitely my go to spring shoe! Only $23 and 3 shades available.

Now let’s talk about these denim…. they are pull-on. LOL. At first glance I loved the color. I really needed a pair of light distressed denim in my closet and full price these are only $40 (any given day you can probably find them on sale for around $30). The price point was right, and they have ten 5 star reviews, so I said why not? I ordered my regular size and surprisingly they do fit really well! I won’t be doing any shirt tucking with these, but with light flowy shirts or tunics these are perfect! The waist isn’t too tight and they really are comfortable! However the waist still makes me laugh looking at this picture. 😂

If you’re looking for a great pair of premium denim, check these out. They were a new arrival yesterday at Nordstrom and I just love this brand. The ankle jeans are always still a little long on me, but I just roll the hem at the bottom and still love them just as much! The fit, the fabric, everything is perfect and will last forever. I added them to my wish list and plan to scoop them up on sale.

Just like I have mad love for the moody colors in the fall, I have those same all the feels for the romantic hues in the spring! I’m not an overly huge fan of a stark red color, but give me about any shade of pink and I’ll wear it all year long. 🙂 You can wear a floral skirt with tights and booties now, and with pumps or flats this spring. It was overcast the day I took this picture, so the colors are a little washed out (ok, really just blame it on the photographer!), but the base of this skirt is a nice charcoal gray color. I paired it with a winter white, but I think navy blue would also pair well and also a lighter gray or pink top.
