I’ve had this muscle tank for a couple years and just realized it now comes in 4 color options! Priced at $32 and very good quality for the price. I did go down one size, but feel like my regular size would have worked also. It’s a little ‘swingy’ and easy to do a front tuck with – or leave untucked.
And I can’t leave without throwing a shout out to these sandals! Hello spiky things on my feet! 😍 A few color options are available, fit TTS, and comfy! I wear these a lot on my days off with distressed denim. It’s like dressy with a kick of sassy.
How adorable is this embroidered tee?! I love that you can pair it with so many color options – or just wear it with white jean shorts and colored earrings and/or sandals! It also comes in a marigold and navy blue option. I love both of those also! Honestly, it was hard for me to pick a color!
Happy Memorial Day friends! Did you have a good (hopefully long) weekend? I did get 3 days off and boy I needed it! My husband was off the last 2 days from work also, so we definitely took the time to spend together (which is why I blasted out a few blog posts… and then disappeared again LOL). Between spending time with the horses, taking Reid for little hiking excursions away from home, and not even gonna deny some Netflix binge watching didn’t happen! – we had a good weekend. I had the day off today to catch up and regroup for the week and it was really nice.
Today I wanted to share the return of a top that’s been a favorite in my closet for the last few years! J.Crew Factory released their last hurrah of spring new arrivals and I was excited to see they brought back this same print, but in an updated tie waist version. I would style it just like they did on the model also – either with a skirt or jeans! I have the same top from last year, but in a blue/pink gingham that’s really pretty. Either way, I’m excited they brought this top back – and the print – the navy/white striped option is pretty also! Right now the top is only $20 + free shipping ~ and my skirt is on super sale also at 60% of and only $24! I have a feeling these are Memorial Day sale items though and may end tonight!
I love that the “greece” slide sandal trend is still popular this season! Check out the option listed for my cardigan below – it’s from Target and the source of my inspiration for this flatlay! I loved the look so much I almost ran out and grabbed the cardigan yesterday… and then realized I had a plain version in my closet that is almost identical. 🙊
Do you prefer horizontal or vertical stripes? Does it matter? I know the golden rule used to be, “don’t ever wear horizontal stripes, they will make you look wider.” However, in the wave of feminism and progressive movements, the one thing I do try to embrace is “if it feels good and you like the way you look in it, then go for it.” Confidence and being comfortable in your own skin is where it matters. I started this blog to create confidence and better style in the workplace – because let me tell you, if I don’t have on a pop of color, print, or some other interesting piece on, I’m not myself – and therefore not confident and comfortable. You have to love yourself… and for me that’s also goes for what I’m wearing – even in a t-shirt and jeans!
So after all that ‘love thyself’ chatter, really all I’m saying is… I love this skirt, horizontal stripes and all! I’ve also been all about affordable and quality pieces lately. That $15 dress from Target yesterday? Yup, it fits the bill. I say if you can get $1-2 per wash out of a piece then it was worth the investment (i.e. the Target dress should last 7-15 washes). I’m looking for the same in my work wardrobe. Now ya’ll know, my workplace has gone from professional dress to casual, so I don’t wear skirts quite as much as I used to. And that’s where affordable becomes important to me. And also closet staples.
I owned a stretchy knit (horizontal striped) pencil skirt from Old Navy for years. They still sell the same skirt in black/white stripes here. I loved that skirt! I ended up selling it when the dress code changed at work last year because pencil skirts were just too uncomfortable for me. I moved to a different location that is much busier, and when I need to move around quite a bit, I want a skirt that moves with me lol! A-line skirts have become my new best friend after I let my precious pencil skirts go to the Poshmark pile.
I was excited to replace my beloved Old Navy skirt with this A-line wrap striped skirt from Ann Taylor. The material is the same as the ON version – “ponte knit” or “scuba” material – because it has quite a bit of stretch. It’s also more structured, so shouldn’t wrinkle and keeps its shape at work (and wards off the hot bodies that love the air conditioning lol!). The wrap adds interest also, and I don’t see stripes or wrap skirts going out of style anytime soon (if ever!) so this should add easily to the closet staple section of your closet.
It’s also on sale + an extra 40% off! So way more affordable than regular AT pricing. Also, if you have ShopRunner, it’s free 2 day shipping.
Sizing: I went with my regular size (non-petite). The regular length is 20″ and that’s a perfect work friendly length for my 5’2″ frame. The waist does not have stretch, so if you are in between sizes I would go up one size.
Spring colors are starting to pop up in stores everywhere and one unlikely color I’ve noticed lately is this rusty orange. Certainly not one I would expect to be popular during spring, but I like it! I’ve seen quite a few tops with rust as the base color and then usually with a white pattern like polka dots. I wasn’t quite drawn to those as I was to just a simple striped tee like the one I have below. I have a few sandals in my closet that are a similar cognac color and love that they are an easy match for this tee. I picked a dark colored skirt to complete the outfit and brightened it up with a bag of a lighter hue. Tee and skirt fit TTS.
size tip: I’m 5’2″, ~130 lb. and normally wear an XS/S on top and 28/6P on bottom.
Hi guys, I hope this post finds you well! I first and foremost want to thank each and every one of you that reached out to me after my last blog post. All the sweet comments, texts, and messages meant the world & I know so many of us share a love for our sweet pets. 💙 A lot of you asked how Eddie is doing – so far, he seems to be doing just fine. He suffers from his own health issues (and I’m sorry here if I sound like a broken record and repeating myself) including a soft tissue cancer that has been removed twice after chemotherapy stopped working and possible neurological issues. I am likely doting and loving on him far more than he could ever want (my husband says I ‘Elmira’ him 😝), but I want to show him all the love since we will never know when his last day with us will be.
That being said, things go on and while my closet appeared to be a dark hole the last week, this weekend I got out of the house for awhile and my brain started firing and thinking about outfits again! Today’s flatlay is featuring this camp shirt. A relaxed, and somewhat boxy fit, this style of shirt has returned this year and I’m pretty happy about it! Long sleeve camp shirts have been popular for years ~ I’ve owned many for work ~ and I love this newest trend with short sleeves. Last fall my favorite option was from Target (newest version here), which is a little more casual. The black shirt shown in today’s flatlay was made to be slightly more classy and work friendly. It comes in 5 color options. Fits TTS (I purchased a size small).
size tip: I’m 5’2″, ~130 lb., and normally wear an XS/S on top and 28/6P on bottom.
I just love new spins on old trends! Open shoulder tops were all the rage the last few years, I still have a couple of favorites in my closet, and now the designers have to go and re-invent new ways to keep the trend alive! I’m pretty ok with that. 🙂 I fell in love with this open sleeve, bow detail sweater. I’ve been looking for tops lately that are trendy, but not in that over the top way. I feel like this sweater is classy enough for work and casual. Oh, and it comes in 7 color options! I picked the blue (because, well for some reason I’m all about blue lately. Lol), but all the colors are pretty – the pink is my second favorite! Happy almost weekend friends!
Hi friends! Today’s look was supposed to be another blog outfit post, but guys lemme tell you… sometimes it just doesn’t quite work out (ugh). My husband and I tried twice to get the look right. The first time was Monday night, except the sun was setting too fast and I don’t know where are all traffic came from where we normally takes pictures, but cars were lined up at a nearby traffic light staring. I know bloggers take photos all day long in the middle of roads, crowds, you name it – but our photo place is right outside of our neighborhood and I shouldn’t be embarrassed, but I am. I rarely talk about my blog to people I know in person. I suppose it’s a self conscious thing, and also the fact once I told my dad about the blog and he was soconfused. LOL. I never mentioned it again! Anyway, Monday was a fail. Tuesday we tried again. Went to a different spot, but the sun was at an angle not quite behind my husband taking the pictures so again the lighting was pretty bad. Not only that, but somehow my shirt was incredibly wrinkled, I ripped it in the back bending over to fix my shoes (!!) and I’m not quite sure what my stance was, but I looked like I needed to pee! 😂
Anyway, I gave up after all that. I love putting together flatlays, in my pajamas, gym clothes, and no lighting issues or neighbors to stare at me. 🙂 So, here you go!
Today’s outfit is featuring this incredibly soft and stretchy sweater. Definitely one of my favorites this winter. My previous look using this sweater (here) was a casual outfit, so I wanted to put together a work look as well. Lately my husband and I have been cutting back on expenses, I really need to get some debt paid down, so I’m going to make it a point to try and mix old items in my closet (like this skirt) with new items more often. I’ve fallen in love with using ShopLook to make visual outfits for you guys (like with my Saturday/Sunday sales/wish list posts) and I want to try to get into a habit of doing the same with items I find online to help you all create similar looks! Hope that helps! See below for all the details.
Today I wanted to feature this incredibly soft cable knit sweater. You know how cable knit sweaters are all the rage every year, but tend to be a stiffer material that really isn’t that comfortable? Perfect for layering I suppose, but what if you just want to wear the sweater without the layering? And who wants to put a sweater on that requires a struggle because of how stiff it is! Well, I purchased my first cable knit sweater since we’ve moved down south friends!
This sweater is super soft, stretchy, comfy, no itch, and full price only $37 (today on sale for $30… $26 with a store card!) , and comes in 5 colors! I can’t do a lot of layering down south most days, so wearing it alone on cool days, or maybe with a lightweight tee underneath is perfect. I chose this lightweight gingham shirt for the flatlay, but any button down would work (chambray would be perfect!).
If you look closely, the white color does have a somewhat asymmetrical pattern. I actually really liked it because it’s ‘different’, but I know that’s not for everyone. All of the other colors options are a normal rib print. I picked up a size small in the sweater which fits perfectly weather wearing alone or for layering. Booties, shirt, and jeans all fit tts.
*size tip: I’m 5’2″, ~130 lb. and normally wear an XS/S in tops or 28/6P on bottom
