Holding Onto Summer:

If it’s possible that somehow Florida got hotter the last week then it was all summer, it definitely happened. We had cooler nights for awhile, and thought maybe ‘fall’ down here was just around the corner, and then just like that mother nature laughs and gives us 78 degree nights, humidity, and the most intense heat from the sun she can come up with! Thankfully I work in a freezing air conditioned environment so I laughed right back and am still wearing all my new fall goodies. 😜 That being said, I thought I would throw together a summer like outfit, but with a little fall transition.

Also – if anyone that reads my blog lives in SC/NC/Virginia area, you are all in my thoughts! Florence is approaching the same time Irma was hitting us this week last year. My Facebook memories popped up today and literally this day last year I was staying in a hotel in Athens, GA fearful I would not come home to a house. As scary as Irma was, the storm surge capability and potential landfill stalling that could occur with Florence is worse. The best advice I can give, is listen to your local emergency management team. They are the most knowledgable and trustworthy people in your area. The media can hype or falsify the situation. If your emergency team says “go” – that means GO. You can replace your belongings, but not you and yours. 💙

Bralettes & Deep Vees:

This sweater has been one of the most popular items I’ve shared on the blog recently, so I thought I’d share another way to style it – with this beautiful lace bralette! I know for me, this sweater dips a little low for complete comfort. It’s one of those that fits kinda slouchy in your regular size, but if you lean forward or turn a certain way might show more than what your neighbor wants to see! 😝 A couple easy fixes – size down – or wear a bralette/camisole. Camisoles are rather uncomfortable for me. Maybe it’s the environment I live in where you can get hot/cold/hot/cold easily, or maybe it’s that tight feeling around your middle, but I’d much rather wear a bralette. I’ve always been a huge fan of the Free People bralette styles, but the other one I have doesn’t adjust in the straps and I feel limited to wearing it inside the house with comfy clothes. This one on the other hand has adjustable straps! Oy! It definitely makes a huge difference in fitting more tightly and holding things up in the right direction (lol).

Work Look: Plaid & Blush

It’s flat lays like this that really drive me to want to start photographing real blog photos again. I stopped for quite a while, with just a few here and there, the last couple of years. I tried taking photos on the inside of our new house, but the lighting just isn’t conducive in the spots I have to work with. However, pretty colors and textures like these really make me want to see this outfit come to life. You know how you can just envision things in your head – and hope they come out the way they are supposed to? Ha! Well that’s how I envision this outfit. This color of plaid is about everywhere right now. I’ll link similar options in pants & skirts below. My favorite pairing is with this blush pink color, but a black top & shoes would look streamlined and make a nice work outfit also.

Fall Lookbook: Plaid Tunic

Do you guys watch the show Flip or Flop?  Christina El Moussa is one of my biggest fashion influencers. I just love her style! Created in lieu of her, I envisioned pairing this drapey plaid tunic over a comfy tee and whatever booties work that day with the outfit. Leave the plaid shirt open, tie it around your waist, or button up all the way – they all work! You could also tie the tunic in the front into a tie-knot to be trendy.

Fall Transition: Designer Dupe Flats

Since we still have at least 6 weeks down here in Florida before the weather starts to cool even a fraction, I’m always looking for fun ways to start incorporating fall type items into my wardrobe and still keep cool. Jeans and a sweater tank are certainly a great way to do just that ~ and adding these cutie cutout flats is step 2! These flats are only $33 and a designer dupe to the coveted Free People version (here). They are comfortable, fit TTS, and can’t wait to find fun new ways to style them!

Fall Color Look: Blue & Gray

Hello friends! Back from my loooonnnggg work weekend and still alive! 😂 Thanks to tropical storm/hurricane/rain maker Gordon, we were slower than normal. We only got a touch of rain and wind in SW Fl, but goodness it really felt like a fall day back up north! I got a little wet walking to my car after work and immediately came home and threw on that incredibly soft waffle thermal top I found at the Rack last week (still available in a couple colors at 6 pm) – now I want to find joggers to pair with it, I’m pretty sure a jogger/thermal/sneaker combo might be my ‘jam’ this winter! 😊

The striped tee below is a new arrival. Only $35 and has the cutest tiered ruffles at the bottom. It also comes in a long sleeve version, and I really like the black/white print. I can’t give a full review yet since I haven’t worn and washed, but fits TTS (I ordered my regular small/petite in this brand ~ regular sizes usually fit long on me). I love it paired with dark jeans and plan to switch it up a little and wear with gray jeans and navy blue cardigan also. And lets not forget white jeans since who cares it’s after Labor Day?! 😝

Did you guys find any great Labor Day sales finds? I ordered a comfy tee from Old Navy, but that was it. After working almost 50 hours since Thursday I was just beat each night. My husband and I are fans of the Ozark show on Netflix with Jason Bateman and are a few episodes in to the new season. Somehow that trumped shopping (probably a good thing lol!).

Fall Casual: Rust & Gray

Super casual, incredibly comfy, weekend fall outfit below. The fabric of this cardigan is called “brushed sweater knit.” I have zero clue what that really means, but it’s crazy soft and all sorts of cozy. It has acrylic, but no wool, so no itch! It’s 20-30% depending if you’re a cardholder, but watch for weekend sales – I’m sure Labor Day will possibly bring 40% off or more! My tee is only $25 and my jeans are on sale again (originally from the NSale) and very affordable. I’ve washed and worn them multiple times without any issues. My booties are still 50% also! So far the Labor Day sales are looking pretty great – I wish I had more time to share sale items specifically, but I work 45 hours thru Labor Day. 😩 I want to tell my boss I really only want to work my minimum salaried hours, but we work in such a tight job market right now (lots of pharmacists losing jobs and pay cuts) I’m scared to say anything. So I press on. However, that’s neither here nor there – this is my happy place to get away from all that, so even though I don’t always have time to share everything – I still love sharing daily outfits with you. 🙂 Happy Labor Day shopping everyone!

Our weather has been wacky lately! I’m in jeans all the time because it feels like it’s always going to rain. The mornings start out warm, then the storms roll in and immediately the weather dips into the low 70s and a cool breeze blows in. If I’m in shorts, you best believe I have a cozy thermal close by! The pink one in the photo is the softest thing you’ll ever touch. Literally. My color is old, but several neutrals are still available. It fits TTS (a little oversized). My camo tee is incredibly soft also – I do recommend sizing up, it was a little too fitted for me in my regular size. Everything shown in on sale, except the sunglasses – but they are only $14. 🙂

Fall Leopard: Always a Great Trend

I am definitely one of those people that is drawn in to all things leopard print. Shoes, scarfs, necklaces, and always a sweater or two come home with me during the fall/winter months. This short sleeve sweater was a perfect addition for this time of year. It’s a cotton-synthetic blend, so none of the itch, structured, and perfect with jeans, pants, or a skirt. Fits TTS (I ordered petite), and included in the early Labor Day sales at 40% off! (Check out ShopRunner for free 2 day shipping). You can’t go wrong with the classics! And I always say… leopard is a neutral. 😊
