Fall in Florida

Our fall weather has finally arrived in Florida! However, I know it’s at the expense of the freezing cold weather up north, so maybe we can just share a happy medium together soon. 😬 Today’s outfit is a flatlay come to life! It’s the perfect outfit for our 50-60 degree breezy, cloudy days. Florida winters are very similar to weather in early fall up north. You start the day out needing layers, and by afternoon the sun might come up and warm everything up. I have probably 10 vests in my closet along with 3 baskets of scarfs, and that’s pretty much my winter uniform on my days off work. It’s so easy to just peel off the layers and stay comfortable all day.

My sweater is available in 5 color options and is on sale! It’s actually a 3/4 length sleeve, but fits me almost as a normal sleeve would. I usually take petite sizing, so note the sleeves will be likely fit you as a normal 3/4 fit if you have a longer torso. My booties are also on sale and fit TTS!

Casual Outfit: Henley Top

I really wanted to put together a true fall/winter casual outfit for Florida, and this is it! An easy henley top, distressed ankle jeans, and booties. I love oversized tees this time of year and this henley is perfect for jeans or shorts depending on the temperature. It’s a thinner/lightweight material, but perfect for our weather. We can still sport our knees and ankles thankfully this far south and withstand most winter temps! 😄 My top comes in 6 color options, but I was really drawn to this fuchsia color. It’s not quite the neon fuchsia mentioned in yesterday’s Banana Republic sweater post, but more of a rich berry color.

Another trend I wanted to try was this fuchsia color paired with burgundy (as seen with my necklace and bag). That color combination has been hot this fall, and I’m happy to give a try! I’m always up for new pretty color hues and trends. The most bold way to wear this combo is a burgundy skirt/pants paired with a fuchsia sweater/top (or vice versa). That’s a little out of my comfort zone, so I was happy to try it with accessories instead!

*sizing: My top is oversized. I do recommend going down one size for this still somewhat oversized look. Go down 2 sizes for a more fitted look. Jeans are my regular size, but I’m wearing the ‘x-short’ length which pairs well with ankle booties in Florida since I’m a shortie. I also have the ‘short’ inseam length to cover my ankles completely if needed. 😊

Casual Outfit: Striped Sweater

The ever so popular rainbow stripes continue through fall, and I couldn’t resist this fun mix of colors in this affordable Amazon sweater. Perfectly oversized and great with shorts or jeans. I styled it here for a Florida fall look, but it will be so easy to throw on with jeans and booties this winter. I took my normal size in the sweater (wearing a size small). Some reviews stated to size up and others didn’t. It probably depends on how loose you want the sweater. With my short torso and arms, I was happy with how oversized it was as is.

My shorts are a LOFT new arrival and currently 40% off + free shipping! It was getting dark when these pictures were taken, but they tie in the front (removable belt if you choose), and extremely comfortable. I’m excited to try styling them next with a body suit to see how I like that trend. Fit is TTS.

Casual Outfit: Corduroy Dress

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing this beautiful corduroy dress from Express. I just love the rich burgundy color for this time of year, but it also comes in a pumpkin spice hue as well. The buttons are all real (so buttons all the way down the dress), but are very sturdy and no risk of an ‘oops’ moment! I of course couldn’t resist pairing the dress with a leopard top, but I envision pairing with a beige, ivory, or mauve sweater/top as well. Not to mention gray or black!

This dress is also on sale right now – 50% off! No promo code required. My top is 30% off.

*sizing: I did go up one my regular size (I’m wearing a size medium) – but I think it depends on your body type. I’m a little heavy chested, so once I got the chest area buttoned, it left less room in the waist. I think if you have a longer waist or smaller chest (I’m 34C for reference), your regular size will work just fine.

Casual Outfit: Ruffle Sleeve Top + #ootd

Hi guys! I’m so excited to finally share some outdoor blogger-type photos again with you! It’s been too long – truly! And this beautiful ruffle top made it so easy to want to take some of these photos – it’s gorgeous! I love there is so much color released in fall fashion this year. I’m all over it, let me tell you! This dotted top comes in this pretty jaded green shade and also an awesome pink color. I honestly couldn’t pick between the 2 colors and let my husband pick. He of course picked green, but I was very partial to the pink color as well. And if you’re feeling a little on the wild side (or maybe we just say fun side!), the same top comes in a leopard print!

*side note: My jeans are new from AE. I can’t get enough of this awesome dark wash, but I ordered the ‘x-short’ jean length which is my new favorite! I usually always order the ‘short’ length, which is ok for work and what-not, but the x-short is going to perfect with booties this fall! …And summer for that matter. Size reference: I’m only 5’2″.

See below for my #ootd also! My tank top is on sale for $8 with code: takenote.

Casual Look: Polka Dot Romper

This post is for all of my Florida ladies! …And anyone taking a beach trip this winter! I wore this adorable polka dot romper to dinner at the beach tonight. It has the cutest ruffle detail, belted waist and not super short. I felt classy and comfortable. It also has pockets! I would say it also fits TTS.

Flatlay: Ruffle Cuff Sweater

Fell in love with this beautiful ruffle cuff sweater the instant I saw it in store! Last year, the trend was larger bell sleeve cuffs, which were pretty awesome in detail – but I quickly learned they were useless at work… and also if you are eating… LOL. The smaller, shorter, cuffs are way better and easier to wear! I paired the sweater here with a white denim skirt from summer (keeping it real down here in Florida ha!), but the outfit ideas are endless here. The blue color is gorgeous. I have my eye on this faux suede skirt for “fall” when it gets here! I think the blues will match beautifully!

Casual Outfit: Still So Hot!

I think all of the south is melting, literally. Lol. I know it gets hot in  Texas, Florida, you name it during the summer months – but usually mid-September it starts to cool off in the mornings and evenings, hot during the day, and if you get rain, you might need a light sweater. Yeah… where is that weather? After the hurricane blew by, it was stifling out (we are talking a low in the 80s + humidity!). Since then it’s gotten a smidge better, but still  uncomfortable. Outfit-wise I’m soaking up all heat in my old summer outfits!

I’ll have to save the new fall finds for flatlays, or maybe try-on photos for now, but I do want to keep showing some summer clothing pieces as everything is on clearance right now! Including this chambray romper which I’ve gotten so many compliments on! Variable sizes are left, but all sizes are left in the olive version which is perfect for fall!

Casual Outfit: Ruffle Hem Top

Hi all! Today I wanted to share one of the prettiest transition pieces I could find – this awesome ruffled hem top! It actually comes in 6 color/print options, but I was immediately drawn to this “paint splatter” print. It has an awesome mix of burgundy, blue, white, mint green, and a pale yellow – on top of the pretty pink color. I went down one size per sizing recommendations and it fits perfectly. My second favorite print is the black/white gingham – which actually was my first pick… until the pink drew me in! 💕 It’s hard to find tops that will go with about any color pants, and this one fits the bill with the color combination. Not to mention it’s perfect to layer under a cardigan.
