New Brand:

I wanted to kick this week off with a new clothing brand (to me)! The blouse I’m wearing is by a brand called “CeCe.” I’ve only really seen the name at Nordstrom, but noticed both Macy’s and Dillards carry it also. I guess CeCe must be a department store brand then? I’m not sure, but after looking at all of “her” items, I fell in love with it! The line is reasonably affordable (I would compare to Ann Taylor pricing or maybe Halogen at Nordstrom). I really liked that all the items are not only somewhat trendy, but classy also. Since my workplace changed our dress code a few months ago to “business casual”, I’ve been looking for tops that somewhat go with everything; whether jeans or skirt, or even on the weekend, I can make it work. I used to have a “work closet” and “casual closet” and now I really need to mesh everything together. I still have casual tank tops and Free People tops I know I’ll never wear to work, but I want those items to stay few and far between.

So this is my first top by CeCe and I really like it! It runs tts and ever though the sleeves are puffed, they are not too tight. They actually fit perfectly. Definitely a nice surprise. I ordered this top from Nordstrom (free shipping + free returns), but it’s also available at Macy’s here. See the bottom of the post for my top 3 CeCe tops on my wish list!

I also have a new pair of jeans on! They were my Christmas present to myself. 🙂 I don’t buy premium often, but these jeans are butter and I know I’ll wear them all the time. They fit tts.

Size tip: I’m 5’2″ and ~130 lb. and normally wear a size XS/S on top and 28/6P on bottom.

I don’t post athleisure outfits too often, but I realized the other day – I really should! If I’m not working, working out, or riding the horses, I literally spend the rest of my time in outfits just like below. Usually because my off days are spent running errands to the grocery, Target, or other essentials (Target is always an essential lol).

I can’t recommend these leggings enough. They are usually always on sale for less than $20 and wash really well. I’ve washed and worn them numerous times and never had an issue. I’m wearing a size medium/regular. My long sleeve top is also a new favorite. I’m wearing a size small. A little oversized, but in that perfect way. It comes in 3 colors and the gray is now on my wish list!

Casual Look: Rib Knit Dress

Hi everyone! We had a busy weekend and it rained almost the whole day yesterday, so I had to push blog photos to Monday afternoon. I used my phone instead of my camera and feel like all my faces are in the photos are kind of comical. 😂 I don’t know why but I look like I’m scared of the camera or something lol! Ahh, oh well.

Anyway, I’ve been waiting and waiting to get this dress. I tried it on in store probably 2 months ago. It runs $100 brand new and I really don’t spend that much on clothes. I finally was able to scoop it up online on sale – prices have changed a little since my purchase, but I’ve found it discounted in several spots in various sizes (see below). It comes in a coral and beige color also.

As far as styling goes, I went with the norm bootie route. Open-toes for Florida. I would wear knee high or tights with closed toe booties up north.  I’m considering wearing this dress to a February wedding that is going to be a casual outdoor wedding. Since our weather can be anywhere from 30-80 degrees depending on Mother Nature’s attitude (lol), I may wear it with knee hight boots and a long cardigan over top.

I’m wearing a size small and would say it fits TTS.

size tip: I’m 5’2″ and ~130 lb. and normally wear an XS/S on top and 28/6P on bottom.

Free People Lottie Dress, Universal Thread open toe booties, Baublebar necklace

The dress is a thick enough knit that I think depending on your comfort level would not require spanx or any “slimming” material underneath. If I end up wearing this to the wedding I will probably wear a boy-short shapewear to smooth out any uncomfortable spots in my stomach.

Floral Henley Top:

Today I’m sharing this pretty floral henley top (see previous flatlay post here). I’m no stranger to these tops as I have several in my closet. LOFT does a reboot of the same top each season with different details, prints, and colors. They are a lightweight material, and perfect for layering! They wash and dry well also ~ and don’t require any special care (no shrink and no ironing!). I usually buy mine in the petite size because the armholes fit me well (sometimes if I go to a regular small size the armholes “gape” or if I size down the shoulders fit too tightly). However, because I lose the length with petite sizing I like to pair with mid- or high waisted jeans (mine are high waisted here). It would also look really cute with a pencil skirt for work!

size tip: I’m 5’2″, ~130 lb. and normally wear an XS/S on top and 28/6P on bottom.

Cozy Sweater Look:

This sweater is the coziest, comfiest thing ever. It doesn’t have any wool, so no itch, it’s an acrylic blend. 8 colors to choose from also!  It was the 407 almost 5 star reviews that hooked me also – wow! I knew it had to be good. I styled it originally with black leggings and mules (see the ‘Flatlays’ tab above), and wanted to soften it up a bit with white jeans and taupe. And tomorrow is a low of 44 degrees – so you might be looking at my Thursday #ootd! 😂

I hope your week is treating you all well! I’m on vacation from work this week, but have a huge “can’t avoid anymore” list of things to do like an oil change, cleaning, and of course Xmas shopping for parts of my family I have no idea what to buy them lol!

size tip: I went down one size in the sweater (wearing an XS). Reviews say it runs large and I agree.

Casual Look: Striped Sweater

Hi guys!  Back this week with a casual outfit that’s so easy I love it! We took this photo on a cooler day last week and this merino wool sweater was perfect for our weather. Today… I was sweating again. In a t-shirt. 😝 Gah. But it’s getting cooler finally and our mornings are lovely, so I need not complain as I know a lot of you are fighting the snow already! If I was back home in Indiana I would wear this sweater with a silk-like (poly hello… lol) shirt underneath. So if someone could put a black with white polka dot shirt on under the sweater, let me know how it turns out because in my brain it turns out pretty awesome.  😆

Spring in Fall

Hi everyone! Today’s outfit post is a flatlay come to life – that was at the top of my “Friday Flatlay” roundup last week! I love bringing these outfits to life. More often than not I throw a flatlay together as soon as I’ve decided to keep a piece in my closet (I would never show you guys an item I don’t intend on keeping. Not to call other bloggers out, because I don’t know for a fact that they do this – but I’ve read recently on other posts that a lot of bloggers buy things only to return and “shill” their finds. I write here to provide inspiration to you guys via clothes, new trends, new ideas, etc. but if I felt an item wasn’t worthy of keeping – I wouldn’t buy it in the first place lol! Ok rant wheel over. 🙂 Just had to get that out ha! ). So I usually put the flatlay together, jot down a couple outfit ideas if I have more than one for a piece – but sometimes I do have to slightly alter the outfit.

One example would be the black & white v-neck sweater shown last week in a flatlay. I love the sweater, but it fit a little shorter than expected with those jeans, so I would adjust to either high waisted jeans or tuck into a skirt. And that’s just because I carry my weight in the middle, not that the sweater is that short. I just prefer to cover up all the cookies and ice cream I’m addicted to. 😝

So anyway, this outfit actually came out just fine! I switched my jeans out only because the jeans in the flatlay were in the laundry, and I grabbed my new Sole Society bag (love!) – but other than that my vision worked out as planned! Yay!

And no lie – I was sweating during this photo – but, Florida is supposed to finally have a cool down this week. Lows in the 40s/50s and hi around 70. That’s sweater weather for this girl! The crappy part is, it usually only lasts like a day or two and then warms up again. So I have to play eenie-meenie-miney-mo on what sweater I want to pick to wear. 😝

However, this is a great sweater. It’s a little longer like a tunic, merino wool so not all itchy, but keeps you warm also. Comes in a ton of colors, but I was instantly drawn to this aqua color. It’s also 40% off. 🙂 No code or card needed. With all the fall color tones out right now, it was nice to throw on something a little less “moody” – hence the name for today’s post – “Spring in Fall.”

Those Snakeskin Mules

Ahh, these mules. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know the whole story. If not – I’ll give you the quick run down. I purchased them originally (online) from Macy’s. They shipped from a store in Massachusetts, and arrived used on the soles… and not only used, the person who previously owned them ripped off one of the beads and stuck it in the top sole of one of the mules. They were shipped to me exactly this way. In a box without tissue paper or stuffing, so you could blatantly see the damage. I was mad of course, but honestly just had to laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. It’s a dark day in customer service friends.

Macy's bad customer service, used shoes from Macy's

I think the worst part of it all was that no one cared. I called Macy’s 1-800 customer service line right away and explained the issue with the girl there… after listening to me, she goes “so, you want to return the shoes”? 🙄

She processed the return right away, but that was it. They have a “texting” customer service line, so I did send them pictures. They seemed slightly more concerned and at least apologized. They forwarded my information onto the manager at the Massachusetts store, whom did call me and leave a message while I was at work. I tried calling her back twice, but it was a huge roundabout and couldn’t get a hold of her. I gave up at that point. Not worth my time.

I did re-order the shoes (on my own dime) and they did come perfectly the second time thankfully. From a store in Miami no doubt!

So after all that, I ended up loving the mules thankfully! And as much as I don’t want to link money to Macy’s right now, these mules are on a great sale (maybe I should return mine for a better price 😝. jk!) If you use code ‘EVENT’ they are only $30! (originally $70). They also make a non-beaded version (not on sale).

Free People South Side thermal, Joe's Icon Skinny Ankle Jeans, Merona bag, Steve Madden snakeskin mules

This post was supposed to be centered around this beautiful thermal top above, not the mules LOL! It comes in a bajillion colors and it’s one that I think you can get away, with or without a bralette (or strapless bra). I’m actually wearing my normal beige (demi) bra underneath, but I adjusted the straps out a little farther. It works for me and is more comfortable then strapless. I think I’ve posted before – if I want to wear a bralette out and about (versus just hanging out at home), I would wear my regular bra and put the bralette over top. It’s about the same comfort level as a camisole for me.

Free People South Side thermal, Joe's Icon Skinny Ankle Jeans, Merona bag, Steve Madden snakeskin mules

I did go down one size on the top. I normally take an XS in Free People clothing and that’s what I’m wearing here (I’m normally a size small in most brands).

The top has somewhat of an elastic band at the bottom. I have it pulled down here in the photo to show length, but it could easily be tucked in front or allowed to roll up underneath itself which I actually would probably do most often.

Fall Look: Florida

Well, we had a good few days of nice, crisp, Fall weather down here in the Sunshine state… and then just like that Mother Nature said “nope” and took it all away. 😝 We took this photo during one of those mornings and it really was a perfect outfit. However, no matter where you live I really recommend this cardigan – it’s the perfect layering piece whether over a tank or long sleeve tee. It’s chunky, over-sized, and a waffle knit so won’t make you too hot. Whenever (if) we finally get cooler weather, I will definitely  layer this cardigan over a long sleeve tee, and add a scarf if needed (if I need a coat it means we are dying 😂😂).

Right now my tank and cardigan are both 20% off online only! Free 2-day shipping if you have ShopRunner, or normal free shipping with a store card.

Fall Work Look: Plaid Skirt

This is one of those outfits that I wasn’t really sure about, but decided to post anyway. This skirt is really versatile and can pair easily with about any color. I wanted to create a “different but neutral” look, and went with different shades of brown. The camel was an easy pick, but then I had to decide if I wanted to play it really safe and go with black pumps and a black bag…. or have a little fun and go with cognac toned leopard pumps and cognac bag. I had the black pumps on, walking out the door, and last second chose the fun/less comfortable option!

If you’ve been reading style blogs for awhile, you might remember Tara K who wrote Mix & Match Fashion (later known as The Mix blog) – she hasn’t written in about 2 years (so sad also, she was one of my favorites!), but her motto was always “work doesn’t mean boring.” I loved that. She always chose the less safe route, and mixed her colors and prints beautifully. Not that I’m wearing a lot of color – I wanted neutrals – but even pairing a combination of neutrals can be challenging.
