Well hi guys! Another Thursday, another roundup for the week! This is one of those weeks I’m so thankful I have the blog. It’s been a rough week ~ first of the year is always stressful in pharmacy land ~ and it’s nice to be able to come home and put all the stress behind me and just think about this little space of mine. 🙂 Outfit details below.
Hi guys! Today I wanted to feature some #ootd photos I’ve taken over the last couple of weeks. Our weather has been all over the place. The last week has been warm and humid, but the previous week was freezing cold. Literally a 25 degree swing. Next week we are diving back down into the 40s/50s and hi’s in the low 70s, so who knows what my outfits will look like ha! I feel like I start the day looking ridiculous with whatever layers I can find and might end the day with sandals and a t-shirt lol. I know, I need to shut up because I know some of you reading this probably have snow. 🙂
Happy New Years friends! Cheers to you and yours, I wish you fresh success and happiness this year! I know a lot of us think of resolutions for the new year. A way to start over or improve ourselves. Personally, I honestly couldn’t think of a resolution per say. The normal would be fitness goals, health goals, etc. Of course I can always lose weight and eat better, but that’s never a resolution for me. It’s just a constant. 🙂 I’ve not been the happiest with my career lately, so that is one area where I can certainly improve. So I’ve resolved to make some goals for this year and advance myself in the area of pharmacy (i.e. there are certifications and extra board exams I can take). It won’t be easy, but if I resolve to finish one goal a year for the next few years, I will certainly be able to change some things in life and work toward a better career (end result: contentment).
Blog-wise I looked back at my top 5 posts in 2018. It’s hard to look at statistics. What were my ‘best’ posts? Posts that drove the most clicks? sales? views? I decided to go with page views. I started the blog to provide inspiration to put together outfits in the workplace and make getting dressed fun everyday ~ and while some blog readers may want to buy all the latest fashion (like myself :)), some may read for just the inspiration and how to make their own closet work for them. I appreciate both! I may treat the blog like a little side job sometimes with scheduled posts and planning ahead, but I really started blogging with no expectations other than to hopefully provide inspiration and happiness to readers.
Looking at the top 5 posts in 2018, there is one thing in common ~ 4 out of 5 were outfit posts! Only one flatlay made the top 5. All outfit posts were work related or dressy and that makes me happy! While I’ve transitioned the blog into 1/2 work and 1/2 casual (or business casual anyway due to the change of dress code at my job), I always enjoy putting work outfits together more. It certainly puts things in perspective for 2019 and where I should put my time! See below for the top 5 posts of 2018. If you guys have any requests for certain types of posts or outfits, please don’t hesitate to ask. And as always, thank you for reading and wishing you the happiest of years! ❤️
*everything is old, however this tee is almost identical in other colors ~ I have the black/white striped version and love it!
Hi everyone! This week has been busy busy since the holiday. I snuck in that Black Friday post on Thanksgiving Day, and then had to work 40 hours in 4 days. I’m pretty sure I was barely alive on Tuesday (lol), and then back at it Wednesday. Thankfully I have to work tonight, and then off work for 10 days! There have been quite a few new arrivals at stores I’m excited to share with you all, I may have to head to the mall this weekend or early next week for try-on photos at LOFT – I love to see their new stuff in person!
I’ve been sharing when I have time over on Instagram since it’s so much easier to get a post up, but wanted to update with a roundup here and add any tidbits about outfits I don’t have the room for on IG (like sizing, textures, etc.). Hope you all had a great holiday!
I had fun with this outfit! Lots of color and bling! You could easily tone it down with blue/brown flats (there is blue in the plaid shirt) and nix the velvet clutch. I envisioned wearing this to my work Christmas party or if I was working Christmas Eve. I need to find some nice flat booties for work also. Now that we are back into “seasonal” hours, which are more days per week, but shorter shifts, I can get away with wearing comfortable booties. On cold days down here, I could easily wear this with tights and booties to work.
Tartan plaid. Always a holiday favorite. This shirt is a tunic, fits TTS, and perfect with leggings. Of course I had to make it a little more fun and add the leopard flats, but I honestly would wear it with the gold flats to work (in the above flatlay) also!
Oh what joy! Hehehe. I love this t-shirt. Love it. I think it’s meant to be sincere and joyful! But, if you’re like me, and work in retail…. interpretation is up to the reader. 😂 Because every time a technician hands me over to a cranky patient because of a situation out of my control, I will be pointing to the words on this t-shirt ha!
*note about skirt: My skirt is from last year and is black – this year’s version is a dark navy blue – the same look can be accomplished, and in my book you can keep the black shoes (or switch them out for navy…. or gold!)
Although the outfits above are crazy fun, and holiday outfits are meant to be bright & cheerful – I love the more serious tone of this outfit. It still has Christmas colors, but a little more office appropriate without the joyful and loud red color. I love both, but this traditional look has my heart. ❤️
Hi guys! I wanted to roundup this week’s #ootd photos that I usually just post real quick over on Instagram throughout the week, but wanted to share with you here also in case you avoid social media (I don’t blame you!). All my outfits are real life, wrinkles and all, and truly what I threw on before I headed out the door to work or wherever. 🙂
Hello friends! As you’ve seen, I’ve been posting a lot of new outfit photos this week on blog. I’ve stepped away from flatlays and concentrated more so on showing you what the outfits actually look like! I hope that’s actually a good thing. 🙂
I’ve still put together several flatlays over the last week, I’ve just shared them Instagram each day and figured it would be nice to get back to “Flatlay Fridays” on the blog! I used to do this months ago (years ago? lol who knows), and I enjoyed doing this weekly roundup. I didn’t get to take many #ootd photos this past week, but I’m thinking of dedicating Thursday to ‘daily outfits’ of some sort also. It really all just comes down to work (meh). Thankfully I think our 12-13 hour work days are coming to an end for the next few months, so I’ll have a couple hours each day for the blog. Which excites me always!
Happy Friday friends! I hope you had a wonderful week ~ I’m excited to have the weekend off work again! I might head back into my local LOFT store ~ after scooping up some closet basics last week, they went and released some really cute items this week! Check out this leopard sweater – it’s different and I love the spin on an old print!
Below is another roundup of daily outfits this past week.
I still really like this wrap front blouse. It now comes in 7 beautiful prints. I did size down one based on reviews, and for my short waist, it works fine. However I would recommend your regular size if you have a long torso. I don’t find that it runs overly big.
A plaid dress for fall. I’ve been on the hunt for one and fell in love with the simplicity of this dress and the pretty burgundy color. I sized down one. It comes in 3 other colors if red isn’t your thing. 🙂
You might recognize this outfit from a flatlay a couple weeks ago – I can now tell you these sneakers are pharmacist approved! I was only able to get away with wearing the jacket to the freezing cold store, but can’t wait to put it to the running test outside! I took my regular size in the jacket. Originally I had purchased a size up, but didn’t like the bulkiness for running. I think it could go either way if you are only going to use it for everyday activities.
Right now everything at LOFT is 40% off! It’s been awhile since I’ve walked into a LOFT and thought “oooo” – I’ve actually had better luck at their outlet store. However, soo many things caught my eye online lately, that I had to go check them out in person. Below are some fitting room snapshots of what I tried on, what I kept, and what I put back. Spoiler alert: Too many things came home with me. 🙂
These jeans and this sweater both made their way into my closet. The sweater is actually pretty thin, so perfect for our “fall” weather down here, but could easily be layered under a jacket or vest. It’s also incredibly soft and I loved the mixed media ruffle hem. The jeans were a random surprise – I’ve been looking for more distressed jeans, but ones that aren’t too over the top (like holes every 3 inches) – these were perfect! I purchased petite in both items. Fit TTS.
This skirt was the reason I went in store. I can’t resist a good windowpane/plaid print, and this is one that will be a closet staple for years to come. I have last years print in black/red (buttons down the side – soon to make a blog appearance!), but wanted a white/black version. My red/black skirt is hard to mix more than just gray, black, white, etc. – this white/black skirt will be easier to mix with not only neutral tops, but colors like maroon, olive, red, etc. Fits TTS.
I grabbed the tee just because I thought it was adorable, but I didn’t bring it home. It’s super cute, but I was spending enough already!
Both this sweater and olive pants came home with me. The sweater was another item I had on my wish list and went to check out. It did not disappoint! I love, love the cuffs and the black/white stripes are just prefect. I wanted it to tuck into a couple of my corduroy skirts, but when I saw these olive pants, I picked those up heading to the dressing room. I’m still on the hunt for new olive jeans, but these pants are a beautiful color. Again – closet staple for work. Fits TTS. I purchased petite in the pants and regular size in the sweater.
Last, but not least, these are two items that did not come home with me. Now – I picked them up together thinking they would pair well. They did not. The sweater was too long and oversized for the skirt. I tried tucking it in, but it was just too bulky. However, individually these are both beautiful items. The sweater is meant to be untucked, with a curved hem, and would look fantastic with leggings. It comes in a quite a few colors. The reason I didn’t bring it home is that I think it has acrylic in it, or a touch of wool, which is way too much for Florida right now.
The skirt on the other hand, is quite thin, and although that would be perfect for Florida, I just purchased those Old Navy plaid pants and decided the print was too similar. So, if you’re looking for a skirt alternative to plaid pants – here it is! The skirt has a touch of pink and blue stripes.
