Casual Look: Bow Neck Sweater

Excuse me while I indulge in all things pink until February 15th?! 😍 My sweater comes in 3 colors and this ‘pink flamingo’ color was in my shopping cart online before I could think twice! This same sweater was released last fall in a short sleeve version. I originally ordered a plain jane heather gray color and decided I couldn’t style it in a fun way and ended up returning it. I’ve regretted it ever since. When I saw J.Crew Factory had released the same sweater in a 3/4 length sleeve and in this fun pink color, I knew it must be mine! I actually wore this sweater pretty much out of the bag for this blog photo. As you can see in the stock photo, the bow is tied a little looser or differently than mine. I only messed with it a little before leaving it as-is for the photo. I think because I was worried about cleavage showing and the bow tied up higher was comfortable for me. I think I like the stock photo look better though, so I’ll play around with tying it and see if I can feature this again different in a flatlay or #ootd photo soon.

Instantly I knew I wanted to style this pink color with leopard. Always my go-to when I want a little classy… and a little sassy. 😝 Just as easily as a pair of dark wash jeans, the sweater could pair with black jeans/work pants as well. A fun option would also be light color gray pants and printed flats/pumps. I have an old ivory pencil skirt I may try for a work look also. Endless options!

Hope you all are having a great week so far!

Work Look: Bell Sleeves & Tweed

Hi guys! Today I wanted to share this new bell sleeve sweater with you! It’s a new arrival from J.Crew Factory. You might have seen it on my ‘Sunday wish list’ from a couple weeks ago. J.Crew Factory offered me a 25% off coupon if I allowed a sweater I ordered (on clearance no doubt… and free shipping…. I think I paid $5.30 lol) to be shipped at snail mail speed. And let me tell you, they held to that promise! I think I ordered the sweater on December 23rd? And it arrived promptly on their “estimated shipping date” of January 4th. Ha! Anyway, I was really happy to have that coupon, because it allowed me to order several new arrival items including this bell sleeve sweater! Thankfully not via horse courier. 🙂

I paired the sweater with another ‘holiday leftover’ if you will – this pretty tweed skirt! The sweater comes in 3 color options – I chose the ivory color because it’s the most neutral and goes with almost anything in my closet. The navy and gray colors are gorgeous – I was drawn to the gray color instantly because of the pink detail, however decided to play it safe.

Both sweater and skirt fit TTS. I’m wearing a size small in the sweater and size 6 in the skirt. I would say if you’re in between a 4 and 6, go down one size – it does have a little room. I’m a true 6 and preferred how it fit with my extra luggage. 😝

*size tip:  I’m 5’2″ and ~130 lb. and normally wear an XS/S on top and 28/6P on bottom.

Casual Look: Holiday Leftovers

Ohhh, it’s Monday again. Meh. 😑

My husband and I had a nice relaxing weekend. One of our dogs had surgery a little over a week ago to remove a cancerous tumor that returned on his leg. I guess to avoid a circulation issue, the vet has it wrapped from his paw all the way up his leg to the shoulder area with a tie going up over his back. He’s been very good about it and we haven’t had any issues with him chewing on the bandage, but between our work schedules, dog sitter, and plans outside of work we’ve tried to stay close to home and not be gone for very long in order to keep an eye on him. So our weekend consisted of a short trip to the park near home, a Target run (spring new arrivals are coming in!), couch time, and that’s about it!  I actually quite enjoyed the quiet weekend. I hope you had a good weekend also!

I only work 4 days this week, so I actually shouldn’t complain about it being Monday ha! But I have a dental cleaning appointment so that kind of ruins the whole day. 😝

I named today’s outfit ‘holiday leftovers.’ Spring new arrivals are starting to hit stores which is really exciting – I love the fresh, bright colors! But until then I’m trying to come up with ways to style holiday favorites into the new year. My top is a tie-neck (in the back) sleeveless shell.  It has a velvet dot pattern and ruffle hem around the neck. I wore it the first time with leggings and holiday red earrings (original flatlay post here). I’ve also tucked it into a skirt for work. I decided to go casual for today’s post and dress it down a bit. Camel and black have been one of my go-to color combinations this fall/winter and so it was easy to come up with this outfit.

Daily Outfit Roundup

Hi guys! Today I wanted to feature some #ootd photos I’ve taken over the last couple of weeks. Our weather has been all over the place. The last week has been warm and humid, but the previous week was freezing cold. Literally a 25 degree swing. Next week we are diving back down into the 40s/50s and hi’s in the low 70s, so who knows what my outfits will look like ha! I feel like I start the day looking ridiculous with whatever layers I can find and might end the day with sandals and a t-shirt lol. I know, I need to shut up because I know some of you reading this probably have snow. 🙂

Casual Look: Mock Neck Sweater

I love the freckled detail on this sweater. The mock neck is different than what I’m used to. At first I wasn’t sure if I liked it because it it’s almost like an oval shape if that makes sense? And I’m sure everyone’s shoulder/neck alignment will make it fall in a different way, but it’s just different than the norm circular shape. However, I grew to really like it and glad I picked up this sweater. It comes in 6 color options, but this gray color was by far my favorite. It has dark gray/charcoal and cognac detail speckled throughout the knit texture, so it was easy to pair with these cognac booties. The sweater full price is only $40, but currently on sale for less than $30. My booties are $35, and my bag only $40! Aside from my jeans, a very affordable outfit!

Everything I’m wearing fits TTS (I’m wearing a regular/small in the sweater).

*size tip: I’m 5’2″ and ~130 lb. and normally wear an XS/S on top and 28/6P on bottom.

Happy New Years! Top 5 of 2018

Happy New Years friends!  Cheers to you and yours, I wish you fresh success and happiness this year! I know a lot of us think of resolutions for the new year. A way to start over or improve ourselves. Personally, I honestly couldn’t think of a resolution per say.  The normal would be fitness goals, health goals, etc. Of course I can always lose weight and eat better, but that’s never a resolution for me. It’s just a constant. 🙂 I’ve not been the happiest with my career lately, so that is one area where I can certainly improve. So I’ve resolved to make some goals for this year and advance myself in the area of pharmacy (i.e. there are certifications and extra board exams I can take). It won’t be easy, but if I resolve to finish one goal a year for the next few years, I will certainly be able to change some things in life and work toward a better career (end result: contentment).

Blog-wise I looked back at my top 5 posts in 2018. It’s hard to look at statistics. What were my ‘best’ posts?  Posts that drove the most clicks? sales? views?  I decided to go with page views. I started the blog to provide inspiration to put together outfits in the workplace and make getting dressed fun everyday ~ and while some blog readers may want to buy all the latest fashion (like myself :)), some may read for just the inspiration and how to make their own closet work for them. I appreciate both! I may treat the blog like a little side job sometimes with scheduled posts and planning ahead, but I really started blogging with no expectations other than to hopefully provide inspiration and happiness to readers.

Looking at the top 5 posts in 2018, there is one thing in common ~ 4 out of 5 were outfit posts! Only one flatlay made the top 5. All outfit posts were work related or dressy and that makes me happy! While I’ve transitioned the blog into 1/2 work and 1/2 casual (or business casual anyway due to the change of dress code at my job), I always enjoy putting work outfits together more. It certainly puts things in perspective for 2019 and where I should put my time! See below for the top 5 posts of 2018. If you guys have any requests for certain types of posts or outfits, please don’t hesitate to ask.  And as always, thank you for reading and wishing you the happiest of years! ❤️

-xoxo, Kecia

Work Look: Tweed Skirt

Hi guys! I hope you had a joyful (and possibly another long holiday?) weekend!  I’m back to work today after a few days off and feeling pretty refreshed!  Our weather hasn’t been the most cooperative lately. We had a ton of rain and wind last week into the weekend, and then it warmed up quite a bit, but got pretty windy. We picked the only free day we had to try and take some pictures. The sun and wind weren’t really on our side, so this set of photos and another are a little washed out, but hopefully you get the gist. 🙂

I couldn’t wait to share this pretty tweed skirt on the blog. I promise I’ll wear it again for you soon for an #ootd photo or flatlay (probably both) to get a better idea of colors. It has a beautiful mixture of pink, blue, black, and white tweed. The stock photo on LOFT’s website uses a dark purple sweater paired with the skirt. I was drawn to the pink hue in store, so it really can go with  many colors, and not just the obvious. I loved pairing it with a light pink, but the options are really open here on color matches.

Both my sweater and skirt run a little big. I sized down one in the skirt (wearing a size 4 regular). The sweater I chose my normal size (small), but the sleeves are little long. If you are petite like me I would suggest ordering the petite size you normally wear to get the right sleeve length. I loved the sweater too much to pass it up (my local store was almost sold out), and it’s one of those sweaters you can easily throw on with jeans and sneakers also, so the generous fit didn’t bother me too much.

*size tip: I’m 5’2″ and ~130 lb. and normally wear a size XS/S on top and 28/6P on bottom.
