adam lippes for target

Today Target released another limited edition collection.   Instead of pink flamingos by Lilly Pulitzer, we have all things plaid (oy!) by Adam Lippes.  Both warm this girls heart.  You can view Target’s lookbook here.  I definitely picked out a few favorites from the lookbook before I shopped online this morning.  If you get a chance to shop in store, I highly recommend it. I wasn’t quite sure on sizing with these pieces. I ordered my normal size, but some of the items look like they fit oversized.

Here were my top three picks: (click pictures for a direct link to product)
I loved these also, but really had to decide how much use I would get out of each item and ultimately didn’t purchase them. The dress I’m torn on because I really love the pattern, but dresses I typically only wear once every great while (especially ones for work), and was afraid it would sit in the back of my closet.
Happy Sunday everyone!

work outfit: floral midi skirt + tie neck blouse

This outfit might be a little “cool” for my friends and family back home in the midwest!  I saw 60s this past weekend (brrr!).  But, throw a cardi on and I think it would still work perfect for days in the 70s. I love these midi skirts.  I quite possibly overwear the pencil skirt (oops) and need to venture out of my comfort zone.  This is the perfect option because it’s long enough to be work appropriate, but not too long for short girls like me.  🙂

insta update + sales

I wasn’t able to get an Instagram update up last weekend, so alas — today is somewhat of a “doubles” day!  Also, today is the last day of LOFT’s 40% off sale — the entire store (online only, promo code:  FALLSTYLE).
Now that clothes are trending toward fall/winter with cooler weather ahead, I didn’t splurge like I normally would (today is a high of 88 here!).  I did pick up a couple of “pocket blouses” — perfect for warm weather by themselves, and easily layered for cooler weather.  Lately I’ve been freezing in the pharmacy as well from the air conditioning, so I picked up a couple of scarfs as well. Here are my picks with this sale:

Nothing special about this outfit, just a navy top and white shorts — but I purchased these sandals on Amazon for almost half off (prices vary depending on your size)!  I always forget about Amazon as an option to buy clothes and accessories — and with an Amazon Prime membership, shipping is free and fast (2 days).

Handbag:  Olivia & Joy (sale!) – same // Watch:  Michael Kors – same

I can’t say enough good things about this tank top. It comes in a zillion colors, it’s light and airy, goes with jeans or work clothes, and colors go on sale all the time.  I see a hoarding situation in my future. 🙂

Top:  Pleione (40% off) – samemore colors here // Jeans:  Vigoss – same
Sandals:  Jack Rogers – same // Necklace:  House of Harlow – same

I might start to sound like a broken record, but I feel the same way about this top (also Pleione brand) as I do about their tanks.  They are a little more dressy and provide more coverage, so no need for cardigan either.

One of my last purchases from the Ann Taylor ‘Friends & Family’ event a few weeks ago was this skirt. I have mad love for this pattern, that’s for sure!

Need I say too much I about this outfit? 🙂 My favorite formula:  t-shirt + pencil skirt = outfit.  I wore this on Friday to work, so I had fun mixing and matching prints, because it’s Friday and why not?

Tee:  J. Crew Factory – same // Skirt:  J. Crew Factory – same // Flats:  Nordstrom – same

Last, but not least, a simple outfit for a style challenge involving a plain white tee.  This bag is one I picked up during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Yesterday I finally put it to some use. Gotta love some Rebecca Minkoff!

work outfit: polka dot skirt + tee

I almost feel a little Christmas-y wearing this outfit, but I saw this skirt in store with a similar color scheme and it was too good to pass up!  Burgundy, wine, garnet, crimson — there are a thousand synonyms for this red color, but either way it’s by far my favorite this time of year.  I swear I do wear pants to work, even though it may not seem like it!  Making a mental note to include some pant outfit on the blog that aren’t jeans in the near future. 🙂

casual post: plaid shirt & shorts

Yay for the time of year where plaid shirts are acceptable and go with just about anything!  Although it’s still really hot and humid down in south Florida during the day, we’ve had a lot of rainy evenings that turn breezy and cooler (what I consider cooler… low 70s lol) and require either jeans or a long sleeve shirt.  My go-to long sleeve shirt is definitely a plaid or gingham button down.  I probably own too many, but you can never have too much of a good thing….. right? 🙂

Ann Taylor does it again.  I can always count on their brand for professionalism, clean lines, comfort, and a great fit.  My husband actually picked out this tee for me while I was exchanging this skirt for a different size.  Apparently he knows exactly what I love — tee & pencil skirt! 🙂

work outfit: gold mustard skirt & sleeveless blouse

Guess what?  It’s September 1st… which in my world (camp Kecia…), all things fall are allowed to be worn. 🙂 I’m going to kick it off with this mustard pencil skirt, one of my favorite fall-like colors.  Also, Nordstrom recently marked down a ton of great items up to 50% off!  Some items I’ve had stuck in my “wish list” are below.  Hope you all are having a great week!

casual outfit post: oversized tee & skinny jeans

Free People is one of those brands I’ve heard about for years, but back in the midwest I never lived close enough to a store that carried their products to truly appreciate the obsession.  Lucky for me we have one here in Sarasota. 🙂 And I’m slightly crazy for their tees!  This one is oversized and so soft and comfy!  They are a little pricey, so I recommend waiting for a sale. Nordstrom carries the brand and so does Macy’s.  Macy’s tends to have great deals online, so I waited for a sale + online promo before I ordered.  I’m dying to buy more colors and also try their “757” tee which has also gotten great reviews.  All of their tees and tanks come in tons of colors as well.

work outfit post: camel pencil skirt & lavender top

With all the ‘Friends & Family’ sales this past week, I stocked up on some work horses that were missing in my closet.  Since moving to Florida I’ve downsized most of pant collection.  I kept my favorites and basic colors that will be used this winter.  I have quite a few spring/summer colored pencil skirts in my closet, but was looking forward to stocking up on darker basic colors that I don’t own.  That included this camel toned pencil skirt.

It’s usually hit or miss with me at The Limited.  Sometimes I feel like the quality and fit of their clothes are spot on and other times I have to return everything I ordered online because of the awkward fit (could just be my body type?).  Thankfully I’ve fallen in love with their pencil skirts.  Their skirts aren’t stiff like other brands and very comfortable to wear throughout the day.  Since I’m standing most of the day at work I don’t normally feel constricted in a pencil skirt, but a stretchy and comfortable material while walking around is a must!

weekend insta update

Hello all!  I hope you had a good weekend.  Today was full of relaxation after a long 12 hour work shift yesterday. Not going to complain since it pays the bills, but I was happy to lay by the pool and take multiple naps today. 🙂 Here is a little Instagram re-cap over the past week.  Here is to hoping I can sneak some more blog posts in this week (I’m starting to sound like a broken record lol).
