It has been so rainy down here lately I thought a bright colored top was in need on this Monday! I also was anxiously waiting the results of my board exam taken last week and my mood was less than jovial until I got the results — I passed! I’m now officially a licensed pharmacist. 🙂 And currently celebrating with a large bowl of ice cream and catching up on lots of DVR recordings.
Just a little Instagram update to finish out the weekend and start a new week!
I had fun wearing a mix of bright colors with a summery print yesterday to work. Come sometime in August I tend to start switching over to the fall color palette, although this fall I’m going to have to be a little more creative then in the past with my new “environment.” I’m thinking knee high boots, jeans, flannel shirt, and vest aren’t going to fair well in southern Florida? No? Shoot.
I looooove this skirt. Had.to.have.it. It’s higher waisted then regular pencil skirts, which is great for my body type since I carry a little extra around my tummy (#alltheicecream). This top was an unlikely pairing, but I used it to try the skirt on in the store and really liked the result – so wallah! I hope you all are having a fabulous week. I gotta say, I’m happy tomorrow is Friday! We’ve had a ton of rain here in the Tampa Bay area the last couple of days and come Saturday I’ll be ready for some relaxation time next to the pool!
I’m going to try and re-organize the blog here in upcoming weeks to make it easier to search for past outfits. One of the style blogs I follow uses titles similar to the one I have used above. Since I typically have either “casual” or “work” outfits, I will try and designate the posts into one type or another and see how it goes. Eventually I would like to create another label at the top of the blog page for each type of outfit. Hopefully it will help with the organization of the blog. 🙂
Now for the outfit deets. I picked up these shorts awhile back. At first I thought they were too bright. Then I saw a few other bloggers with them on and thought maybe they were fun. Then again too bright. Then I couldn’t stop thinking about them. Do I have a problem? Maybe. So I purchased them anyway. Then I had no idea how to style them. I tried a white top. Didn’t like. Tried a yellow top. Maybe too bright. So I tried a simple black tee. Decided it works. And now you know how getting dressed for me goes about every.day.of.the.week. LOL.
Every girl loves a pretty dress that can be dressed up or down, right? I found one! This dress is actually on super sale and almost sold out. I hesitated all season because my local GAP did not carry it in store and I wasn’t sure about the print without seeing it in person. I’m glad I finally gave it a chance! I was pleasantly surprised and very happy with the fit and feminine flare of this dress. It covers enough skin to feel safe for work and can be dressed down with nice sandals for date night. They make a plaid version also and I’m really bummed my size is sold out online. I highly recommend it for fall! It would look super cute with a cardigan with cooler temps. I’m definitely going to be checking GAP’s website daily for re-stocks.
**FLASH SALE ALERT**
I was going to wait til tomorrow to post this dress, until just now Loft sent me an e-mail — they are having a flash sale and it’s on sale + an extra 70% off!
I wore this dress today and got so many compliments! At least 3 people asked where I purchased it from. I do recommend going down one size — I’m also wearing a petite. HAPPY SHOPPING! 🙂
One of the my favorite things to wear to work is a plain t-shirt and nice pencil skirt. Somehow it just works, especially in a “business casual” environment – and makes it so easy to get dressed in the morning! A graphic tee works great also with a plain pencil skirt. This skirt is also on super sale and an extra 50% off.
Another day, another pencil skirt! #sorrynotsorry 🙂
