pretty dress

Every girl loves a pretty dress that can be dressed up or down, right?  I found one!  This dress is actually on super sale and almost sold out. I hesitated all season because my local GAP did not carry it in store and I wasn’t sure about the print without seeing it in person.  I’m glad I finally gave it a chance!  I was pleasantly surprised and very happy with the fit and feminine flare of this dress.  It covers enough skin to feel safe for work and can be dressed down with nice sandals for date night. They make a plaid version also and I’m really bummed my size is sold out online.  I highly recommend it for fall!  It would look super cute with a cardigan with cooler temps.  I’m definitely going to be checking GAP’s website daily for re-stocks.

(Runs TTS. I’m wearing a size 4 for reference.)

flash sale

I was going to wait til tomorrow to post this dress, until just now Loft sent me an e-mail — they are having a flash sale and it’s on sale + an extra 70% off!

I wore this dress today and got so many compliments!  At least 3 people asked where I purchased it from.  I do recommend going down one size — I’m also wearing a petite.  HAPPY SHOPPING! 🙂

nordstrom anniversary sale

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale kicked off this morning early!   Right now it’s only available to cardholders through July 16th.  If you are a cardholder, I highly recommend taking a look sooner rather than later as items sell out very quickly.  The sale is targeted at providing deals on what they consider the most covetable items come this fall.
Right now I’ve only picked up a couple of items (shown above). I love so many things they have for sale, but as most of you know we just moved to south Florida.  The weather peeps down here are predicting us to have “warmer than normal” fall.  I’m not quite sure what that means (90s? 80s? 70s?).    Either way, I’m going to hold off on jeans and also long sleeve tops until we get acclimated to fall and winters down here.
But, for all of my midwest family and friends – gobble these deals up! 🙂 My top picks are shown below:

Also, if you’ve been holding off on buying a Kendra Scott necklace because of the cost – nows your chance!  All of the best styles are on sale, including the Rayne and Dylan!

plain white tee

One of the my favorite things to wear to work is a plain t-shirt and nice pencil skirt.  Somehow it just works, especially in a “business casual” environment – and makes it so easy to get dressed in the morning!  A graphic tee works great also with a plain pencil skirt.  This skirt is also on super sale and an extra 50% off.

just another pencil skirt

Another day, another pencil skirt!  #sorrynotsorry 🙂

Today’s outfit is so simple, but I love it!  I went to the pool this morning and needed to run errands this afternoon, so this was the easiest option in my closet.  A comfy dress + comfy sandals + simple necklace = the best formula!  This dress is also on sale ($16.99!) and comes in black & pink.  My handbag is also on sale for $65 off!

I gotta say, although I love all of the bright pinks, corals, mints, and teal colors in my closet (and will surely snag the clearance summer deals!), I am also excited to move onto fall colors and see what retailers release soon for their fall line-up.

Have you seen the Pantone Fall 2015 Color Report?  Although I don’t only buy items in these colors, I do try and use their color reports as a guide on mixing and matching things in my closet.  Instyle Magazine usually releases a similar guide every spring and fall which is really great also!  But, aren’t these colors so pretty?! Fall fashion is my favorite time of year (if you couldn’t tell already 🙂 ).

3 per week

I have so missed blogging here!  I thought it would get easier, and then my husband (aka the photographer) went back to work full-time, I had to start studying for boards, I went back to work, and then life… happened?  I guess that’s as good an excuse as any!  Things have started to slow down a tiny bit since I have one board exam out of the way (one more to go!) and I really want to try and get at least 3 outfit posts a week.

As you’ll see in today’s post I sort of figured out a place to set up the tripod and take blog photos.  My (dad’s) front door has large glass windows, so unfortunately the light reflects in the wrong direction toward the camera.  I’ve had to tweak the colors in my photo editor slightly and turn the brightness down, so they might look slightly photoshopped.

I picked up this tank recently from Nordstrom when it went on sale (only $16!), it comes in a slew of colors, and was happy to add it to my ever growing collection of tank tops in the summer heat.  I could easily see myself pairing it with jeans in the fall or a skirt to dress it up a bit.  For the price, it’s definitely a thumbs up in my book!

weekend uniform

Most of my posts recently have been a pretty typical “weekend uniform” for me with casual outfits.  I’m crossing my fingers and toes I can get back to work soon.  They say everything moves slower in Florida – apparently that includes the board of pharmacy.  Until then – enjoy another weekend uniform. 🙂
