casual outfit: gingham top & shorts

This top is so light and airy – perfect for hot days!  It’s meant to fit bigger, but I did size down so the top half of the shirt would be more fitted. I think it could easily be tucked into a skirt for work as well.

Now about this bag.  Guys, I have been searching high and low for a bag with fringe forever.  I had a few stipulations.  A) I didn’t want anything too big – a crossbody was best  B) I didn’t want to spend $$$ on something so “trendy.”  I’m all about spending hard earned money on nice Kate Spade, MK, or Tory bags if they are a classic staple that will last for years to come.  But, I don’t envision the fringe and tassels that are so popular these days to last forever, so I was thinking $50 or less would about right if I can find the right color  C) I wanted a cognac/brown color to carry into the fall season (Hence the “right” color).

I spotted this little cross body about a month ago while my husband was looking for new running shoes at Finish Line (inside Macy’s). Not that I was bored or anything. The handbags just happened to be nearby.  🙂 But, at $78 I was determined not to spend that much.  I held out and finally they had a great sale last weekend! (If you follow my Instagram page here I posted about those Jack Rogers sandals on clearance – score!) I also had Plenti points — highly recommend signing up! — plus a reward card that I was saving.  Anyway, I really like this bag. It’s lightweight, a cross body, trendy, cute & casual – couldn’t have asked for more!  It also comes in navy.
