Work Outfit: Denim Dress

Happy Monday friends! I hope you all had a safe and fun 4th of July holiday! I honestly don’t love the fireworks (not a fan of crowds and noise), so traditionally we stay home and watch good movies. Mostly for the dogs also since they hate the noise. We watched ‘The Tomorrow War’ with Chris Pratt on Amazon Prime last night – highly recommend if you like action movies! Had quite a bit of humor mixed with action which we enjoy. And covered up the fireworks sound quite nicely!

And say hello to my blank wall space! My first ‘blog’ photo in the new house! This wall will eventually have a giant bookcase holding all of my books someday. We still have a lot of work to do on the downstairs portion of the house so the upstairs will be delayed for awhile. My awesome husband thankfully was able to install our custom closet for the master bedroom this past weekend! He still has to finish the shelves over the hanging bars, cabinet doors, etc. but I’m happy to have my shoes/clothes more organized in the meantime. Below are screenshots of my favorite recent book finds!

So anyway, here we are with blank wall and new outfits! I actually haven’t been able to post until now. I was downright terrified my time with Covid had finally come after all this time and also being vaccinated. I came down with a nasty ‘cold’ 2 weeks ago and it darn near knocked me off my feet. I took 2 rapid Covid tests (both negative) and I can’t say I had Covid-like symptoms. Never had a high fever, no loss of taste/smell, etc. But goodness was I tired. And developed this awful, awful cough. It’s been 2 weeks and my energy levels are back thankfully, just have residual sinus issues. It’s one of those things that sure makes you rethink mask wearing since I haven’t had any sort of illness in 1.5 years lol! I also gained a couple pounds and just have that general ‘yuck’ feeling. So if you notice my face looks a little more pale and maybe a little puffy…. well, that’s why. The non-Covid virus of 2021 struck hard lol.

So… on to the outfit! It feels like forever since I’m shared a work outfit! Today’s dress is from J.Crew Factory and is a recent new arrival. I originally added a belt, and then decided I honestly liked it better without. But I think depending on your body type, a belt would look nice also (for me it accentuated my hips). Since I’m always freezing, I would add a cardigan also. However, the basics of this dress are on point! It’s a stretchy, lightweight fabric and really nice for summer.

I’m wearing a size 6 which is my normal dress size. There are 8 five star reviews already, but I’m surprised only one reviewer stated the dress fits a little bit big. I would size down if you are in between sizes. I feel like I could have gotten away with a size 4, however I don’t like dresses super fitted so I was happy to keep my size 6 (and I’m horrible with returns haha). The pockets add a fun touch and overall this dress is really cute! Throw on some fun jewelry or colored flats and you’ve got an outfit!
