striped tee, olive vest, leopard sneakers

Fall Classic: Updated

Hi friends! How many remember the ever so popular olive green military vest trend 7-8 years ago? Honestly, I probably still have mine somewhere – I know I at least have a military green jacket and also a quilted puffer vest! What goes around comes around, right? Just like skinny jeans, everything circles back! I remember specifically a really popular outfit was wearing a striped tunic tee, leggings or skinnies, leopard flats or booties, and with a military vest. I probably have the outfit stored in my vault of blog photos from a million years ago, but I don’t feel like going down that rabbit hole at the moment lol! Since leopard is back in a big way this fall, I wanted to re-create the same outfit using what’s on trend today.

How would we make this outfit “stylish” in 2024?

Go casual: We would swap out the tunic for a long sleeve to tuck in to either straight leg or bootcut jeans (to accentuate the waist). Instead of wearing the longer vest, things are more “cropped” for a reason – to give that effect of longer legs. Now ballet flats are back in a big way, but since this is more of a casual outfit, I would swap out the flats/booties for a leopard sneaker. Accessorize how you like! I picked out a brown bag that matches the leopard print in the sneakers with simple gold jewelry.

Go to work: I would wear the same long sleeve tee, but switch out the jeans for straight leg or bootcut black pants. Instead of the puffer vest, I would choose a collared green cardigan. Instead of the sneakers, go with a leopard Mary Jane or ballet flat. Accessories can stay the same! Here are some work friendly options below:

I hope this post brings you some inspiration to bring an oldie but goodie back to life for 2024! Wishing everyone a brighter week ahead – I know I’ve been ridden with anxiety the last few days from hurricane Milton that just hit my 2nd home in Venice/Sarasota area in Florida. Thankfully all friends and family that we’ve been in contact with are safe and sound. I wish the same for those with loved ones in Florida as well!
