Flatlay Friday, Vol. 6 (On Monday)

Well hi friends! Happy Monday! Man, things have been a whirlwind since I last posted. We sold and closed on our house on March 12th and ever since then…. drama. Lol! We are leasing back our current home from the new buyers, but only for 45 days (it’s a requirement per the type of mortgage loan they are using, something about they have to take occupancy in 60 days). We didn’t think that would be a problem, since as of March 17th my husband has already started commuting to Tampa for his new job (which is a 1.5 hour drive from Venice), so we assumed 45 days would be plenty. However… our new home in Tampa has been delayed… again. #stupidcovid They still are thinking a May 31st closing date, but I’ll see it to believe it! I’m not convinced.

So, we now have to be officially be out of our current home by April 26th (our new home was supposed to close mid-April originally). And we have to find a home to rent. We were open to an AirBnb or Extended Stay type situation for a week or two, but now we are looking at 5-7 weeks… if not more! And those places can be very pricy. Not to mention we have the 2 dogs, and we can’t leave them in a place like that comfortably, so we are looking at short-term home rentals. Well, that’s a problem also. Because stupid Florida has a law where if you rent for less than 6 months, you are charged a “hotel tax”… say what?! We’ve talked to all kind of realtors and companies trying to find even a 3 month lease (we would even pay a little more), but the only thing we’ve found is a home that is usually $3750/mo and they want us to pay $5900/mo for the 3 months! Yeah… no. Lol.

Anyway… Drama. Lol. And so we are now looking at 7 month rentals. Which stinks so bad since we only need the home for maybe 2 months, but it’s the only thing that begrudgingly makes sense. And it will allow me to get back to work safely, we will have our furniture with us and the dogs will settle in better, and we can hire a dog sitter like normal. Had we known all this about delays in building, hotel taxes, minimum leases, etc…. I don’t think I would have ever committed to all this. I wanted to stand by my husband and allow him to keep this great job, but quite frankly it’s turned into such a nightmare I’m scared I might lose my job if we can’t get settled in somewhere.

I’m not expected back to work until May 8th thankfully, but that time is coming quickly. Please send all of your good juju and happy thoughts our way please. 🙂

So, blogging is going to get weird for awhile. Who knows what kind of flooring and lighting the rental will have. Which stinks also, because if we end up moving mid-April… I will have several weeks with nothing to do (but blog) and nowhere to do it haha! I may judge the rental homes based on lighting and flooring. 😛

Today I wanted to share my most recent flatlays! I meant to get this posted on Friday, but time just isn’t on my side lately. But Monday works also. I hope you all find some great new items for spring!
